Chinese characters are very much like Latin characters. Each of the character takes on a geometrice shape and was generally composed to look like a shape. Although it takes on a form of a geometric shape, it should not be composed perfectly in the shape as the expansion/contraction of the shape with the geometrice shape will allow the designer to create a better composed type.
Unlike Latin type, the Chinese characters are composed more on a plane as compared to the horizontal line which is often known as the x-height and cap height. This is further explain in the section “Type Center”.
